If you're a fan of the Dark Knight, then this special release from Warner should make your mouth water:
dark knight bluray special boxsetThe boxset includes the two disc blu-ray AND a badpod (the motorbike that Christian Bale rides in Dark Knight)

Unfortunately it only appears to be available via the Warner Store and they won't ship dvds or blu ray outside the US!

The Wizard of Oz (the original not that horrendous remake) is a great film. As a child it used to give me nightmares, so the idea of a Barbie Wicked Witch of the West struck me as a bit odd, but I'm not exactly a Barbie expert....

In any case Mattel are releasing a Wizard of Oz collection of Barbie dolls for late 2008 / early 2009, as it's the 70th anniversary of the film's release.

I imagine they'll be available for pre-order from most online shops including Entertainment Earth, Amazon etc.,

Taxi 2

I'm a big fan of Luc Besson and absolutely love the Taxi series of films.

French company Attakus have produced a limited edition version of the famous supercharged taxi from the film. At about 50 euro a pop these are definitely aimed at collectors and are NOT toys:

The Warner Brothers Studio lot has a special area dedicated to showing off some of the vehicles that have featured in their films. Universal Studios has one as well, but you can't get close to anything, but that's another story...

While I was there in 2007 they had the Ford Anglia from Harry Potter on display. Unfortunately the photo I took didn't come out as well as I would have liked:

Funnily enough Corgi produced a scale diecast version of it, though it doesn't have the holes in the windscreen. It also looks a lot less battered than the real one in Warner:

In common with most of the film and TV items produced by Corgi it's currently not available from them directly, but I did manage to pick one up from an eBay vendor for next to nothing.

I have to admit that I've always found Puss 'n Boots from Shrek to be one of the cutest characters to ever grace the silver screen.

Unfortunately if you trek out to Universal Studios in California you won't find much in the way of merchandise featuring him. It's a real pity, as Shrek simply is not cute.

McFarlane produced a very nice Puss 'n Boots figure a few years ago:

I've seen several for sale on eBay, but most of the regular online stockists either don't have any left or are almost sold out. (Entertainment Earth had only one left in stock at time of writing and I'm really tempted to grab it!)

EDIT: The piece on offer via Entertainment Earth would appear to be by a different company and is NOT the McFarlane version, but the Attakus version which is produced by a European company. More details here.

Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000 film)

Image via Wikipedia

Gone in 60 Seconds may not be the best film that Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie have done, but it's an adrenalin charged bit of escapist fun.

Cage's character fixates throughout the film about a particular car - "Eleanor", so I thought this scale diecast model was pretty cool:

Unfortunately it doesn't come with Angelina Jolie attached, which is a pity!
