Do Not Disturb

If you've ever stayed in a hotel you've probably seen one of those "do not disturb" signs that you can hang on the door handle.

This one is a little bit different - quite a clever twist on an old concept. Turned one way it says "go away", but if you twist it the other way it invites you in...

If you're patient and have spare time, then why not assemble your own card models of Star Wars vehicles?

Byrne posted about these really cool paper / card based designs the other day.He was looking at the Millenium Falcon:

But there's a lot lot more ..

How about a TIE fighter?

Each design includes the full set of cutouts that you need as well as instructions on assembly.

Very cool, though I doubt if I'd have the patience or skill to put them together properly

Batman Tshirts

A few months ago there was a lot of talk about the new batman movie - The Dark Knight - when it got its general release. It was recently released on DVD, so you can expect to see plenty of more talk about that ...

However, if like me, you're into your cool tshirts why not grab one of these bad boys?

Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000 film)

Image via Wikipedia

Gone in 60 Seconds may not be the best film that Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie have done, but it's an adrenalin charged bit of escapist fun.

Cage's character fixates throughout the film about a particular car - "Eleanor", so I thought this scale diecast model was pretty cool:

Unfortunately it doesn't come with Angelina Jolie attached, which is a pity!

Knight Rider

Knight Rider

Image via Wikipedia

Knight Rider, starring David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, was a massive hit in the 1980s.

While they've recently started showing an updated version of the series, the original is always going to be the one people of my generation are going to remember. We grew up on it.

Kit - the car - was as much a star of the show as his driver, so a radio controlled version of Kit is pretty cool:

Star Wars Kites

I haven't played with a kite since I was a child, but these Star Wars kites look like they'd be great fun:

The Olive Opus series of music servers are simply beautiful.

opus5v2_front_silver.jpgThey aren't just cute to look at, as the underlying technology is really sweet!

They range in capacity from 160 GB to a massive 750 GB - which could hold up to 2200 CDs worth of music.

The entire range offer both wired and wireless connectivity, so you can easily network them in for full streaming throughout your house.

What really impressed me was the range of audio formats supported. While you'd expect almost any audio device to support the popular MP3 format Olive go one step further and offer full support for OGG/Vorbis, FLAC, AAC and several others.

The only downside is that it cannot handle Apple iTunes DRM protected audio. However this device isn't really aimed at iTunes' users.

The array of connections and other technical specifications are fairly advanced and should keep most audiophiles happy.

Pricing starts at just over $1000, however they currently are not shipping outside the US, though they plan on expanding their markets during 2008 according to the email they sent me.

However if you really want to get your hands on an Olive you might find one on eBay.. Bear in mind, however, that in common with a lot of US audio devices the voltage is 110v so you will need a transformer to use it in the EU

Indiana Jones Mania

One of the biggest film events of 2008 is going to be the release of the next Indian Jones film starring Harrison Ford.

The release of the trailer a couple of weeks ago led to a lot of excitement online (and offline), so it's only natural that merchandise vendors would also be cashing in. Of course they're producing some really nice Indian Jones related products, so I wouldn't complain too loudly.

One of the products that I'd really like to get is this figure of Indy on a horse

You can pre-order it here and with the current Euro to dollar rate it works out relatively cheaply for a high quality product

If like me you're a fan of batman, then you probably love the batmobile used in the last film Batman Begins.

The actual vehicles used in the making of the film can be seen on the Warner Brothers' lot most of the time, though they're currently not on site.

I took some photos of it last year:

batmobile-warner.jpg

However it's a bit too big to put in my sitting room!

So instead I opted for this little baby:

As you can see it's got the "original" pre-spray camouflage colour. In the film Bruce Wayne sprays it black after being taken for a test drive.

You can get these cars from HotWheels, though there are shipping restrictions

Free Full Games

James mentioned earlier today that FilePlanet is giving away a number of full games for FREE!

I haven't had a chance to try any of them yet, but it seems like they are working off the ingame advertising to subsidise the giveaway.
Just because a hard drive is a necessity doesn't mean it has to be boring and bland.

LaCie have introduced a range of stylish external hard drives that are reminiscent of Lego building blocks.

Crafted by the world-famous designer Ora-Ïto, the new Brick expresses a playfulness in a user-friendly high-performance hard drive. Stack & Play multiple LaCie Bricks together to brighten your desktop and your mood (they're even stackable with LaCie Mobile Bricks)
They look like they might be fun, though I wonder would small children be tempted to play with them?

At this price it's probably beyond a dream car... Only 300 were ever made!

Most Expensive Car In The World - Watch today's top amazing videos here
I've never been a fan of watching videos on small screens. I can't honestly see the point. Why would anyone want to watch a full length film on the iPod's tiny screen?

It may be "cool", but it's hardly practical or good for your eyes

myvu_logo.gif
I'm probably not the only person to think along these lines, as MyVu Corporation seem to have based their entire business around resolving this one problem - and the solution looks pretty cool

myvu_solo.jpgThe system is pretty self-explanatory and consists of "glasses" and builtin earphones.

I've no idea how good the quality is, but they're available online from $200 a pop!
